Explore Paldea in the order you choose
Pokémon Scarlet opens the Paldea region as a connected landscape of lakes, mountains, towns, fields, and desert. Koraidon carries the player across the terrain and gains traversal abilities as the journey advances. Instead of following one fixed Gym route, players can move between three storylines: Victory Road, the Path of Legends, and Starfall Street. Their objectives can be mixed throughout the school-year adventure.
Terastallization changes a Pokémon's battle role
Every Pokémon has a Tera Type that can become active once per battle when the Terastal Orb is charged. The transformation can strengthen a familiar attack type or change defensive expectations, giving team building another strategic layer. Wild Tera Pokémon and Tera Raid Battles create additional ways to find and train partners. Scarlet also carries its own version-specific legendary, school, characters, and available Pokémon.
A shared open-world Pokémon journey
Up to four players can meet through the Union Circle and explore Paldea together, though story progress and encounters still belong to each player's game. Trading and battling extend the social side of team building. Scarlet's US game card runs across the Nintendo Switch television, tabletop, and handheld configurations. Version-exclusive Pokémon and narrative details remain relevant when choosing between Scarlet and Violet.
