A town that keeps its own clock
City Folk runs on the Wii's clock and calendar, so seasons change as they do outside, shops close at night and holidays like Halloween and Toy Day arrive on the right dates. You move into a small town, pay off your house to Tom Nook and spend your days fishing, catching bugs, digging up fossils for Blathers at the museum and trading letters with your animal neighbors. Brewster serves coffee at The Roost, and the Able Sisters sell clothes and patterns. Up to four people can live in one town, each with a house of their own.
A trip into the City
Kapp'n's bus runs from the town gate into the City, the biggest addition in this entry. Harriet restyles your hair at Shampoodle, Gracie sells high-end clothes at GracieGrace, and Crazy Redd sells paintings that may or may not be forgeries. Dr. Shrunk teaches new emotions at the Laughing Lemming, Katrina reads fortunes, and Lyle runs the Happy Room Academy office that scores your home. There is also an auction house for trading items. The City gives the daily routine of the town some welcome variety.
Before you move into a pre-owned copy
City Folk saves your town to the Wii's internal memory, not to the disc, so a used disc starts a brand-new town. You can bring your character over from Animal Crossing: Wild World on the Nintendo DS if you still have that save. The game plays with a Wii Remote, with the Nunchuk as an option. Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection shut down in 2014, so online visits and Wii Speak chat no longer work, but local play for up to four residents does. The case and manual are included only if the title says so.

You live in a small town that follows the real calendar, catching fish and bugs, decorating your house and chatting with animal neighbors. Days are open ended, with no required goals. The Wii Remote points at items and menus, and the City adds shops you cannot find in town.
Will it work on a Wii U or Wii Mini?
Yes. City Folk runs on the original Wii, the Wii Mini and the Wii U through its Wii mode. It will not run on a Nintendo Switch. Wii systems are region locked, so this North American copy is meant for a North American console.
Is Wii Speak or anything else included?
The listing is for the game disc. City Folk was also sold in a bundle with the Wii Speak microphone, but the microphone, case and manual are included only if the title says so. Online features that used Wii Speak ended when Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection closed in 2014.
