Rash, Zitz and the Dark Queen
Published by Tradewest in 1991 and developed by the team that later made Donkey Kong Country, Battletoads sends Rash and Zitz after the Dark Queen, who has kidnapped their teammate Pimple and Princess Angelica. Professor T. Bird flies the team to her world. Each level changes the rules. Ragnarok's Canyon is a scrolling brawl, Wookie Hole drops you down a cavern on a cable, Surf City puts you on a jet surfboard, and Karnath's Lair has you riding giant snakes past spike walls.
The Turbo Tunnel and two-player chaos
Stage three, the Turbo Tunnel, is why so many players remember this cartridge. The speeder bikes pick up speed until walls and ramps come at you faster than you can read them, and the only way through is learning the pattern. Two players can team up for the whole game, but the toads can hit each other, so co-op takes coordination. A few hidden warps let skilled players skip ahead, and continues run out quickly on the later stages.

Will this cartridge work on my console?
It plays on the original front-loading NES, the top-loading NES-101 and other consoles that accept 72-pin NES cartridges. It is a US cartridge, so it will not fit a Japanese Famicom without an adapter. It does not work on the NES Classic Edition, which has no cartridge slot.
Is Battletoads good for two players?
