Majesco published Cooking Mama for the DS in North America in 2006, with Office Create behind the design. Every recipe breaks into short touch screen tasks. You slice vegetables with quick strokes, peel potatoes in circles, crack eggs, stir pots, knead dough and flip food in a pan, each against a timer. Mama grades every step, and a good run earns a gold, silver or bronze medal at the end of the recipe.

Seventy-six dishes and combined recipes

The game offers 76 dishes across Japanese and Western home cooking, and more open up as you clear recipes. Many recipes can also be combined, turning finished dishes into larger meals with their own extra steps. Because each task lasts only seconds, the game works well in short sessions, and the simple touch controls make it an easy pick for younger players who are just getting comfortable with the stylus.
