Several Kirby adventures in one
HAL Laboratory developed Kirby Super Star, and Nintendo released it in North America in 1996. Instead of one long quest, it offers a set of games. Spring Breeze retells Kirby's first adventure, Dyna Blade has Kirby face a giant bird, and Gourmet Race is a food-eating sprint against King Dedede. The Great Cave Offensive is a treasure hunt through huge caverns, Revenge of Meta Knight races a timer aboard the Halberd, and Milky Way Wishes sends Kirby across planets to settle a fight between the sun and moon.
Copy abilities and a helper for player two
Kirby still inhales enemies and copies their powers, but each ability now has a full move set. Sword, Fighter, Yo-Yo, Ninja and Wheel all play differently. Press a button to give up your ability and it turns into a helper, a computer-controlled partner that a second player can take over at any time. The Arena rounds things out with a boss gauntlet, and the minigames Samurai Kirby and Megaton Punch are quick contests of timing.

It is a side-scrolling platformer split into several games with different goals, from racing to treasure hunting. You inhale enemies, copy abilities and fight bosses. The controls are forgiving, and a second player can take over the helper at almost any point.
Will it work on my SNES?
It plays on the original SNES and the smaller SNES model released later. It is a North American cartridge, so it fits US systems. It will not play on the SNES Classic Edition, which has built-in games only, although Kirby Super Star is one of them.
Does the game save?
Yes. Progress saves to the cartridge, kept by an internal battery. On older cartridges that battery can eventually run down, and saves may stop holding. Battery state is not something we list, so treat save life as unknown on a pre-owned copy.
