Cackletta, Fawful and the Beanbean Kingdom
The story starts when Cackletta and her henchman Fawful steal Princess Peach's voice and replace it with explosive vocabulary. Mario and Luigi head across the border into the Beanbean Kingdom to get it back, passing through Stardust Fields, Hoohoo Mountain, Chucklehuck Woods and Beanbean Castle Town. You control both brothers at once, with one button for each, and field moves such as the hammer, Spin Jump and High Jump open new paths. Battles are turn-based, but timed button presses let you dodge enemy attacks and power up your Bros. Attacks.
Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser
The remake adds Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser, a separate story that runs alongside the main adventure. Captain Goomba gathers Bowser's scattered troops and leads them through army battles where you set the lineup and the fighting plays out on screen, with chances to step in at key moments. Troops fall into melee, ranged and flying types that beat one another in a rock, paper, scissors pattern. The main adventure also gains a map on the bottom screen, redrawn characters, a rearranged soundtrack and amiibo support.
