Thirty games, no cartridges
Nintendo released the NES Classic Edition in November 2016 as a small replica of the original gray console. It has no cartridge slot. The 30 games are built in, and you pick them from an on-screen menu. The lineup covers Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Castlevania, Mega Man 2, Final Fantasy, Kirby's Adventure, Ninja Gaiden, StarTropics, Dr. Mario, Excitebike and Galaga, among others.
Suspend points and display modes
Each game has four suspend point slots, so you can stop halfway through a Castlevania stage or a Zelda dungeon and pick up later. The display menu offers a pixel perfect mode, a 4:3 mode and a CRT filter that mimics scan lines on an old tube TV. The console connects by HDMI and draws power over USB. Two ports on the front accept the NES Classic Controller, and the SNES Classic Controller and Wii Classic Controller also work.

Can I play my NES cartridges on the NES Classic Edition?
No. The NES Classic has no cartridge slot, and you cannot add games to it. It plays only its 30 built-in games. To play original cartridges, you need an original NES or another console made for NES cartridges.
Will it work with my TV?
It connects by HDMI, so it works with any TV or monitor that has an HDMI input. It runs on USB power, and a standard USB wall adapter is the usual way to power it. Older TVs without HDMI need a separate converter.
Does it work with the original NES controller?
Not directly. Its ports are the same type used by Wii Classic Controllers, so original NES controllers do not plug in. The NES Classic Controller, SNES Classic Controller, Wii Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro all work.
