Primal Rage for Sega Genesis (Pre-Owned)

After a meteor strike wrecks civilization, the planet, now called Urth, is split between seven giant beasts. Sauron and Diablo are tyrannosaur-like dinosaurs, Talon is a fast raptor, Armadon is a spiked, armored tank of a dinosaur, Vertigo is a cobra-like sorceress, and Blizzard and Chaos are towering apes. Each fights for a region of Urth and has tiny human followers at the edges of the stage. Eating those worshippers restores a little health, one of the game's most talked-about touches. The fighters began as stop-motion models, which gives them a heavy, clay-like movement.

Button combos held, not tapped

Primal Rage uses a different input style from most fighters. Special moves come from holding down a combination of attack buttons and then pressing a direction sequence, which takes practice but rewards learning each beast. Every fighter also has finishing moves to pull off after a win. The Genesis cartridge keeps all seven beasts and the two-player versus mode, with the graphics scaled down to fit the console. It is a good pick for friends who want something stranger than the usual martial artists.
