Chasing Excalibur around the world
Eidos released Tomb Raider: Legend in 2006, and this GameCube version followed the other consoles in November of that year. Lara explores ruins in Bolivia, a skyscraper in Tokyo, waterfalls in Ghana, a Soviet facility in Kazakhstan, King Arthur's tomb in Cornwall and a Himalayan mountainside in Nepal. She is chasing pieces of Excalibur while searching for her missing mother, and rivals James Rutland and Amanda Evert are after the same prize. Zip and Alister talk her through each mission over a headset.
Grapple swings and motorcycle runs
Lara moves quickly and smoothly, with a magnetic grapple for swinging across gaps and pulling objects, a flashlight for dark tombs and quick-time moments during big set pieces. Puzzles lean on physics, with crates, levers and weights. Two stages put her on a motorcycle for chases through Japan and Kazakhstan. Time trials, costumes and bonus content unlock as you collect rewards hidden in each level, which gives a reason to go back.
