You start with a shovel, a run-down plot on Pinata Island and advice from Leafos, who walks you through the basics. Clearing the ground, planting seeds and digging ponds brings wild pinatas like the Whirlm worm to visit. Each species has its own requirements to appear, then to move in as a resident, then to romance, so the garden gradually becomes a working ecosystem. Some pinatas need certain flowers or trees, some need to eat another species first, and villagers such as Willy Builder and the shopkeeper Costolot help you buy and build what you need.
Sours, Professor Pester and the long game
Not everything that wanders in is friendly. Sour pinatas cause trouble among your residents, and Professor Pester and his ruffians show up to smash pinatas with sticks. Fences, houses and a well-kept garden keep things running smoothly. As your garden levels up, new and larger species arrive, including the Horstachio horse, and requests come in to send grown pinatas to parties through Pinata Central. There is no strict timer or fail state, so the garden grows at whatever pace suits you, which makes it popular with families and younger players.
