The WWF roster of 2000
No Mercy was released in November 2000 and covers the Attitude Era roster at its peak. The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, The Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Chyna and Mick Foley in his Mankind, Cactus Jack and Dude Love personas are all here, along with tag teams like the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian. The SmackDown Mall uses money earned in the game's modes to unlock extra wrestlers, moves, attire and weapons, so the roster keeps growing the more you play.
Grapples, spirit and the Championship paths
AKI's grappling system splits holds into weak and strong grapples, with different moves from each position, and reversals depend on timing rather than button mashing. A spirit meter rises and falls with the flow of the match, and a full meter lets a wrestler hit a finisher. Championship mode follows storylines for each title, and winning or losing a match sends the story down a different branch. Ladder matches, cage matches, the Royal Rumble, Survival mode and Create-a-Wrestler round it out, and four players can wrestle at once on one N64.
