Wireless control on original PS1 and PS2 hardware
The Retro Receiver plugs into an original PlayStation or PlayStation 2 controller port and pairs with supported Bluetooth controllers. That lets a DualShock 4, DualSense, compatible Xbox controller, Switch Pro Controller, or supported 8BitDo pad operate the console without replacing the system or modifying the controller port. The receiver also works with Windows 10 and 11.
Choose the controller shape that suits the game
Because the receiver accepts several current controller families, the console is no longer tied to one shell shape. A symmetrical PlayStation-style pad suits familiar dual-stick games, while an 8BitDo model can provide a prominent D-pad for 2D releases. Controller support is model-specific, so the current official compatibility list and receiver firmware should be checked before pairing an unusual pad.
Vibration support and updateable firmware
8BitDo lists controller vibration and virtually lag-free operation among the receiver’s features. Bluetooth LE is supported, and firmware updates allow the compatibility layer to evolve. The official package contains the Retro Receiver for PS and a USB cable. This is a receiver rather than a controller: the Bluetooth gamepad used with it is a separate item.
