Takedowns fill the boost bar

Criterion built Burnout 3 around aggression. Driving into oncoming traffic, drafting, near misses and catching air all fill your boost meter, and slamming a rival into a barrier or a bus earns a Takedown that extends it. After you crash, Aftertouch slows time so you can steer your wreck into a car behind you for an Aftertouch Takedown. The World Tour spreads races, Road Rage events and Burning Laps across courses in the United States, Europe and the Far East, while DJ Stryker on Crash FM calls out your best moments.

Crash Mode and split-screen

Crash Mode is a puzzle of its own. You launch into a junction full of traffic, try to cause as much damage as possible, then trigger a Crashbreaker explosion to throw your car back into the chaos. Power-ups hidden on each junction multiply the score or add cash. Two players can race or battle in split-screen, and a party mode passes the controller around the room for turn-based pileups. The EA Trax soundtrack includes Yellowcard, Franz Ferdinand and The Ramones.
