Five heroes for the lands of Norrath
Sony Online Entertainment published Champions of Norrath for PS2 in 2004, with Snowblind Studios at the helm. You pick one of five characters, each tied to an EverQuest race and class: a Barbarian Warrior, an Erudite Wizard, a High Elf Cleric, a Wood Elf Ranger or a Dark Elf Shadow Knight. The campaign starts in the forests of Faydark, where an orc army threatens the elves, and later pushes toward a conflict with the god Innoruuk and the Plane of Hate.
Loot, skills and four-player sessions
Combat is fast, with a camera that follows the action from above. You level up, spend points on skills and pick through a steady stream of weapons, armor and rings, many with random magic properties. Up to four players can play on one PS2 with a multitap, which is how many people remember it. The game also had online play through the PS2 network adapter, but those servers are no longer running.
Saving your hero on a used copy

It is an action role-playing game in the style of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. You fight hordes in real time, gather loot, level up and assign skill points. Friends can join on the same screen for co-op through the campaign.
Do I need a multitap for four players?
Yes. Two players can use the PS2's two controller ports, but three or four players need a PS2 multitap. The online mode used the PS2 network adapter, and its servers have since shut down.
Will it play on my console?
It plays on any North American PS2, fat or slim. Early PS3 models with PS2 backward compatibility can run PS2 discs, but later PS3 models and the PS4 and PS5 cannot. It is a US disc, so it needs a US console.
