Nintendo released the New 3DS XL in North America in February 2015. Compared with the earlier 3DS XL, it has a faster processor, a small C-Stick above the face buttons, and ZL and ZR buttons beside the shoulder triggers. Its 3D uses the front camera to track your face, so the effect holds steadier when you shift your head or the system. The bottom screen doubles as an NFC reader for amiibo figures and cards. Many games load faster, and some, like Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, map extra controls to the C-Stick.
Games that need New 3DS hardware
A small group of games runs only on the New 3DS family, including Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition and Fire Emblem Warriors. Everything else in the 3DS library works as well, from Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon to Monster Hunter Generations and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, and DS game cards play in 2D. Storage moved to a microSD card that sits under the back cover, which is held on by two small screws. There is no Game Boy Advance slot, so GBA cartridges are not supported.

Yes. It plays standard 3DS cards, New 3DS-only titles and Nintendo DS cards. 3DS games are region-locked, so a North American system plays North American 3DS cards, while DS cards are region-free. It has no slot for Game Boy Advance cartridges.
What is included with this New 3DS XL?
