Framed by an impostor
The story begins at a science expo, where Doctor Octavius is showing off a new invention and an impostor in a Spider-Man suit steals it. With the police after the real Spider-Man, Peter Parker swings across Manhattan rooftops to clear his name, running into Scorpion, Rhino, Mysterio, the Lizard and Venom before a symbiote plot pulls in Carnage and Doctor Octopus. Black Cat, Daredevil, the Punisher and the Human Torch help along the way, and Stan Lee narrates the whole thing with his usual flair.
Webs, rooftops and unlockable suits
Spider-Man can crawl up any wall, swing between buildings and zip to ledges, and his web shooters do more than travel. Web Dome wraps him in a protective shell that bursts outward, Impact Webbing traps enemies from a distance, and Web Gloves add punch to his fists. Hidden comic books unlock covers to browse, and clearing levels opens costumes like the Symbiote suit, Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man 2099, some with their own powers. A What If mode adds new jokes and changes for a second run.
Discs, memory cards and consoles
Look at the disc's black underside for deep scratches before you start. Spider-Man plays on the original PlayStation, the PS one, every PlayStation 2 and every PlayStation 3 model, but not on PS4 or PS5. Saving needs a PlayStation memory card, and on a PS3 you can save to a virtual memory card instead. The case and manual are included only if the title says so.

Will it play on my PS2 or PS3?
Yes. It runs on the original PlayStation, the PS one, every PS2 model and every PS3 model. It will not run on PS4 or PS5. It is a North American NTSC disc, so it is meant for North American consoles.
Is this the movie game?
No. This is the 2000 Neversoft game with its own original story, not the 2002 Spider-Man movie tie-in, which came out later on PS2, Xbox and GameCube. The two are separate games with different villains.
