A castle full of cursed treasure

Nintendo released Wario World for GameCube in 2003, developed by Treasure. A black jewel hidden among Wario's loot turns his treasure into monsters and his castle into a sprawling world. Wario sets out to get it all back, stage by stage, through areas like Greenhorn Forest, Horror Manor and Wonky Circus. Hidden trap doors lead to side rooms with platforming challenges, and along the way Wario frees trapped Spritelings and hunts for gold statue pieces and red diamonds.

Pile drivers and Wild Swings

Wario fights with his fists, but the real fun is grabbing dazed enemies. You can slam them with a pile driver, spin them around in the Wild Swing-Ding and fling them into other foes, or charge through a crowd with a shoulder dash. Coins pour out of defeated enemies, and you spend them to continue after losing all your health. The bosses are large, loud set pieces in the Treasure style, and the game is compact enough to finish over a weekend.
