Brock Lesnar, Goldberg and the 2003 roster

Yuke's built Here Comes the Pain around the WWE roster of 2003. Brock Lesnar headlines alongside Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Triple H, Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and a young John Cena, with more wrestlers available to unlock. Season mode follows Raw and SmackDown storylines across a calendar, with rivalries, title shots and cutscenes that change depending on results. Create-a-Wrestler goes deep on moves, entrances and appearance, and plenty of players spend hours there before stepping into a match.

Elimination Chamber and the match list

Here Comes the Pain added the Elimination Chamber, where six wrestlers fight inside a steel structure as the pods open one at a time, along with the Bra and Panties match. Tables, ladders, Hell in a Cell, steel cage and Royal Rumble matches are all here as well. The grappling system splits moves into strong and weak grapples, and weight classes decide who can lift whom, so a cruiserweight will not be powerbombing a giant. Up to four players can join a match with a PS2 Multitap.

It is an arcade-style wrestling game with strong and weak grapples, reversals and finishers. You can play exhibition matches, work through the Season mode storylines, or build your own wrestler. Two players can compete on one console, and four with a Multitap.

It plays on North American PlayStation 2 consoles, original and slim, and on early PS3 models that include PS2 backward compatibility. PS2 games are region-locked, so it needs a North American system. It does not run on PS4, PS5 or original PlayStation consoles.
