Sony released the PlayStation Classic in December 2018 as a miniature version of the original gray console. It has no disc drive, so it plays only its 20 built-in games. The North American lineup includes Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil Director's Cut, Tekken 3, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal, Wild Arms, Ridge Racer Type 4, Grand Theft Auto and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, along with Rayman, Mr. Driller and others.
Using the Reset and Open buttons
The console's buttons have new jobs. Pressing Reset during a game creates a suspend point and returns you to the menu, so you can pick up later where you stopped. The Open button handles disc swaps in multi-disc games like Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid, when the game asks for the next disc. Each game also gets its own virtual memory card for regular saves. Controllers connect by USB, and the PlayStation Classic controllers follow the original digital design without analog sticks.
