Everyone rides together
In the standard Mario Party mode, all four players ride together in a single vehicle, taking turns rolling the dice to move it forward on boards like Mushroom Park, Haunted Trail and Airship Central. Instead of buying stars, the group competes for mini stars picked up along the way, and each board ends with a boss fight. Minigames range from quick races and reflex tests to team events where you have to work together. The cast includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Toad and Toadette.
Bowser Party and amiibo Party
Bowser Party is the big new mode. One player takes the Wii U GamePad and controls Bowser, rolling extra dice to catch up with the team of four riding ahead. When Bowser reaches them, he picks a Bowser minigame played on the GamePad screen against everyone else, and the team tries to hold on to their hearts until the end of the board. The third mode, amiibo Party, uses Mario series amiibo figures tapped on the GamePad, with smaller boards themed to each character and a more traditional coin and star setup.
Getting game night ready
This disc needs a Wii U console, and the main players use Wii Remotes or Wii Remote Plus controllers held sideways, with the GamePad going to Bowser.
