Stranded on Mira
Earth is destroyed in a war between alien races, and the ark ship White Whale crash-lands on the planet Mira. The survivors build New Los Angeles and form BLADE, and you, a custom-made character pulled from an escape pod by Elma, join up to help recover the rest of the wreck. Mira has five continents, Primordia, Noctilum, Oblivia, Sylvalum and Cauldros, each with its own wildlife, some of it big enough to flatten you at low levels. Lin, the Nopon Tatsu and a large cast of squad members fill out the story.
Probes, Skells and real-time battles
Exploring Mira means planting data probes at marked sites across each continent, which fill in the map on the GamePad and earn resources and income over time. Battles run in real time, with auto-attacks plus Arts you trigger from a palette, and Soul Voices that reward following your teammates' cues. Later in the story you earn a license for Skells, mechs that walk, sprint and eventually fly, which opens up high cliffs and floating islands. Side quests called Affinity Missions build out the people of New Los Angeles.
Before you land on a used copy
This disc needs a Wii U console. Online squad features ended when Nintendo shut down Wii U online services in April 2024, so plan on single-player play, which covers the full story and exploration. A big open-world game like this reads from the disc constantly, so look over the playing side for deep scratches. The case and manual are included only if the title says so.

It is a large open-world RPG. You explore Mira on foot and later in Skell mechs, fight in real time with auto-attacks and Arts, and plant probes to map each continent. The GamePad shows the map, so you can check routes and probe sites while playing on the TV.
Can I play it on a Nintendo Switch?
Not this disc. It is a Wii U game and needs a Wii U console, and the Switch has no disc drive. A separate Definitive Edition came out for Switch in 2025 as its own game card. Wii U systems are region locked, so this North American copy is for a North American Wii U.
Is the game still playable without online features?
Yes. The story, side quests and exploration all work offline. Online features like squad missions ended when Nintendo closed Wii U online services in April 2024, so what is missing is the multiplayer layer, not the main game.
